No more ALMS races for Rebellion team

REBELLION Racing announced in June earlier this year that the team will design and build a new LMP1 car in partnership with ORECA for the 2014 season. That project requires a commitment from the resources available to the team which has meant that the Team’s racing schedule for the rest of 2013 has had to be revised.

REBELLION Racing will maintain their focus for the remainder of 2013 in competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

As announced at the beginning of the year, REBELLION Racing will have a single car entered in the remaining 2013 FIA WEC races, the next event of which is in Brazil for the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo at the end of August.

A consequence of this re-focusing is that the team will not race in any of the remaining 2013 ALMS races, with the exception of the final round at Road-Atlanta in October, where REBELLION Racing will be aiming to repeat their 2012 win of the “Petit Le Mans". REBELLION Racing will run a single Lola B12/60 Toyota entry in the 1000 miles enduro.

Bart HAYDEN, REBELION Racing Team Manager :
“We’ve been having a great battle with the other P1 cars in the ALMS and our next race there was going to be at Road America, but our future is to continue racing in LMP1 in 2014 and beyond, and we have to make sure that we give that project the right amount of focus.

I know that a lot of people and fans will be sad with the news that we won’t be back in the ALMS until Road-Atlanta. It's was not an easy decision to take for us to scale down our racing program in the ALMS as we love racing in the USA.

The investment to design and build a new car is significant and racing at the same time as you're making that investment is a big commitment.

We have to be realistic, and we have elected not to race in the forthcoming ALMS races, but we will go back there towards the end of the year to try to win Petit Le Mans again."
