More On NASCAR Television Deal with NBCSN

To be clear, Brian France's comments yesterday about NASCAR having no interest in working with IndyCar were nothing new. However, they re-emphasized the point that NASCAR is the 800-lb. gorilla in American auto racing. Remember, NASCAR, which is actually a sanctioning body, has become synonymous with racing in the American vernacular. France saying that Nationwide was superior to IndyCar from a commercial standpoint highlighted this.

Given the fact, France has no interest in collaborating with IndyCar, how can anyone say NASCAR plans to run cross-promotion for IndyCar during their programming? Even if NBCSN wants to do that, France and the NASCAR cartel will fight it, as they continue their eternal mission to bury IndyCar once and for all, and become the only top-level form of motor sport in America. Maybe, it's time for IndyCar to seriously consider something AR1 has championed for years: the sport expanding its international presence. After all, if NASCAR is going to only marginalize IndyCar more within America, IndyCar needs to go elsewhere to find fans. For more regarding this subject, recall Brian Carroccio's article about overseas races from this past February.
