IndyCar’s Briscoe secured for V8s enduros
Supercheap Auto Racing on Wednesday confirmed Briscoe as Ingall's co-driver for the Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 600 – the series of three races to be contested for the inaugural Enduro Cup.
A winner of eight IndyCar races, Briscoe is no stranger to V8s or to the team, having made his debut with HRT at the Sandown 500 in 2006 when he scored provisional pole.
"My introduction to V8s was memorable – I was comfortable at Sandown straight away and I have very fond memories there," Briscoe said.
"I've been following the V8s all season and it's great timing to be driving with Russell and the Supercheap Auto team.
"They had a great result in Townsville and are clearly coming strong before the enduros."
The deal tops off a good news week for HRT, with the resurgent outfit – who failed to win a race in 2012 – re-signing former V8 Supercars champion James Courtney for another three years.
Ingall was confident Briscoe would easily adapt to the V8 competition.
"It's especially good having Ryan on board for the Gold Coast, because he has great pedigree there in both IndyCars and V8s," said Ingall, who is set to retire as a full-time professional driver at season's end.
Triple Eight on Wednesday also confirmed it will enter a third, stand-alone Holden in the Bathurst 1000 on October 10-13.
The car will run independently from Red Bull Racing at the opposite end of the pit lane.
The VF Commodore's wild card entry was rubber-stamped by the V8 Supercars commission and board.
