Long time IndyCar supporter, Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q, one of the nation’s leading barbecue restaurants, is updating its image by tapping into its roots.
Sonny’s, the third largest barbecue chain in America, debuted its new logo two weeks ago at its annual convention in Orlando, and debuts to the racing world this weekend on the #18 Sonny’s Indy Car here at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The 45 year old chain will proudly carry the new logo on James Davison rookie debut for the Sunday Honda Indy 200.
“Sonny’s has always been at the forefront of defining great barbecue," said Sonny’s CEO Bob Yarmuth. “Because it is in our roots, our passion for barbecue must shine through."
The changes are designed to morph the 45-year-old restaurant’s image from that of an iconic southern mainstay to one of a dynamic showplace for barbecue culture and cuisine.
“We are excited about this new direction for the Sonny’s brand," commented race Team Owner Dale Coyne. “As a part of the Sonny’s family, the new logo, décor and prototype restaurant are exciting additions to our historic culture of barbecue."
Watch the number 18 “Sonny’s Car" race this weekend on NBC Sports Channel this Sunday August 5th at 3:00 PM EST.
