Video: Ganassi’s excitement results in spill

IZOD IndyCar Series team owner Chip Ganassi was understandably psyched about his third-year driver, Charlie Kimball, scoring his first career IndyCar win this afternoon at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

But in the midst of his excitement, Ganassi stumbled as he attempted to cross the pit wall – presumably to greet his American driver – and fell to the ground.

Of course, the spill wasn’t enough to dampen his enthusiasm after Kimball brought Chip Ganassi Racing its fifth consecutive triumph at Mid-Ohio (Scott Dixon – 2009, 2011-12, Dario Franchitti – 2010).

“I’m really proud of him," an exuberant Ganassi told NBCSN’s Marty Snider. “He crashed yesterday morning in practice, and the team came back and did a great job. That kid – he’s an unbelievable kid for what he did."

Kimball crashed his primary car on Saturday morning, but managed to qualify his backup car fifth later that afternoon to set-up his victory one day later. (Video may not play in our iPhone and iPad app)
