Jamie McMurray gets contract extension at Earnhardt Ganassi
Following the announcement of Kyle Larson as the replacement for Juan Pablo Montoya in the organization’s No. 42 car, Ganassi confirmed McMurray’s contract extension. McMurray is 16th in the Cup standings. He began his Cup career driving for Ganassi late in the 2002 season (as a substitute for Sterling Marlin) and then raced full time for him from 2003-2005. He moved to Roush Fenway Racing for four seasons before returning to Ganassi.
“We just re-did Jamie’s contract," Ganassi said Friday in confirming McMurray’s return in 2014.
McMurray won three Cup races in 2010, including the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400, but went winless last year and has not won yet this season.
“I’m really excited to be back here," McMurray said.
