Viso Out, Munoz in #5 for Fontana (Update)

UPDATE Viso called his Andretti Autosport team on Thursday evening to report he wasn't feeling good enough to participate in the IndyCar finale. So Munoz, who finished a sparkling second at the Indianapolis 500 in his IndyCar debut last May for Andretti, was being fitted for Viso's seat on Friday morning.

It's not known if Viso will return to Andretti for 2014 but his team was reportedly none too happy about his no-show.

"Maybe he's got the oval-track flu," said one mechanic, referring to the fact Viso had been uncomfortable with the downforce levels during a recent test at Fontana. Racer.com

10/18/13 Carlos Munoz will replace E.J. Viso in the #5 Andretti Autosport Chevrolet for this weekend's MAVTV 500 at Fontana.

The exact reasons for Viso's absence have not been confirmed. However, keep in mind, Viso was very supportive of Mike Conway's decision to step aside last year right before the Fontana race. The Venezuelan is also apparently still in Miami.

We'll continue to follow the story. Whatever the case, we can't believe Andretti Autosport is too pleased, and have to assume Viso has driven his last race for the team.

In the meantime, remember Munoz finished an impressive second at this year's Indy 500. We'll see if the talented, young Colombian can turn in a similar performance in what you should be an exciting race tomorrow.
