Mann crashes Coyne’s No. 18, cleared to drive

Pippa Mann before she wadded up the No. 18

In IndyCar practice Friday in Fontana #18 Pippa Mann did a full spin between Turns 3 and 4 and made moderate right side contact with the SAFER Barrier in Turn 4. The car came to rest at the bottom of the track. Mann climbed from the car without assistance from the Holmatro Safety Team.

Medical update from Dr. Michael Olinger, INDYCAR Medical Director: Pippa Mann has been checked and released from the infield care center. She is cleared to drive.

PIPPA MANN (No. 18 Sonny's BBQ Honda): "Really tough way to start the weekend, obviously. I didn't need to make that mistake early on. The seams here are pretty treacherous, and I just was trying a different line through [Turns] 3 and 4, trying to run in traffic for the first time and it caught me out. Just want to apologize to the boys, they've got a lot of work now to put my car back together, so I'm really upset for them. I'm kicking myself."
