Mid-Ohio’s 2 biggest races back
The IndyCar Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series are set for next season, returning to similar spots on the calendar.
The Honda Indy 200 will be Sunday, Aug. 3, while the NASCAR Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 will be Saturday, Aug. 16.
IndyCar condensed its schedule for 2014, running 18 races between March 30 and Aug. 30. Mid-Ohio’s event will take place two weeks after the doubleheader in Toronto. Teams will get the following week off before finishing the season with three straight at The Milwaukee Mile, the northern Californian road course at Sonoma and the superspeedway at Auto Club Speedway in southern California.
As for NASCAR’s No. 2 series, it will again be a standalone event as the Sprint Cup will be at the Michigan International Speedway’s oval that weekend. The Mid-Ohio race is one of three road course venues for the series, which also will compete at Road America on June 21 and Watkins Glen on Aug. 9.
Despite less than two weeks separating the two events, Mid-Ohio saw big turnouts for both races in 2013.
