Kevin Harvick calls Ty Dillon ‘punk-ass’ kid (2nd Update)

Kevin Harvick apologized Sunday for calling teammate Ty Dillon “a punk-ass kid" after they tussled on the track in the Camping World Truck Series race Saturday at Martinsville Speedway.
Speaking on Fox Sports’ “NASCAR RaceDay" program Sunday, Harvick said he was overcome with the emotion of the wreck with a dozen laps remaining. “There was just a lot of emotion involved," he said on the Fox show. “I hate it for everybody at RCR. You go back and look at the things that happened, and sometimes you regret the things that you say for sure.
“Yesterday was definitely one of them. I hate it for my guys, and everybody working on the cars. Obviously, when those emotional situations come about, you say things that you really don’t want to say. I just want to apologize to all of those guys, work hard today and try and do everything we can to win the race." [Sounds like someone got a call from the NASCAR trailer "boy, you want to race in this series you had better apologize. Don't you know that Ty Dillon is going to drive Dale Earnhardt's Black No. 3 and is one of our anointed ones? Got that boy?]
10/27/13 Kevin Harvick and Richard Childress had pledged to finish off their relationship professionally with Harvick leaving for Stewart-Haas Racing after 2013.
They did that all season. Until Harvick and Childress grandson Ty Dillon tangled Saturday during the Camping World Truck Series race Saturday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway. Dillon and his brother, Austin, are considered the future of RCR, and Harvick said the focus on them is why he’s leaving RCR. When Harvick stopped in Dillon’s pit stall after their wreck, a Dillon crew member apparently threw a hammer at Harvick’s truck, which is owned by NTS Motorsports. “I don’t care what they throw at me," an angry Harvick said as he left the track before the race was even over. “That’s exactly the reason I’m leaving RCR is because you’ve got those punk-ass kids coming up."
Childress used an expletive in talking about Harvick while going into the NASCAR hauler. He was a little calmer about 10 minutes later.
“I’m very disappointed — that’s all I can say," Childress said. “I’ve got too much class to say what I want to say right now.
“When I say it, I will say it to his face."
Harvick is tied for third in the Sprint Cup standings, 26 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson. Childress said the episode Saturday would not impact Harvick’s status for Sunday’s race.
“We’re still rolling," Childress said.
Dillon entered the race second in the truck standings, 57 points behind the series leader Matt Crafton.

10/27/13 Kevin Harvick and Ty Dillon got together in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway, wrecking both trucks and infuriating each other. Following are comments from Harvick, in his last season driving for Richard Childress Racing (RCR) driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and Dillon, fulltime driver for RCR in the Camping World Truck Series, from FOX Sports 1’s live post-race coverage:
Harvick: “The 3 just dumped me. Exactly the reason why I’m leaving RCR because you’ve got those kids coming up and they’ve got no respect for what they do in this sport and they’ve had everything fed to them with a spoon. So, I cut him slack all day and, you know, he just dive-bombs me in there, dumps me. I’ve got to thank all these Anderson Syrup guys for everything that they do. It’s a shame you’ve got to get taken out by some rich kid like that."
Dillon: “… He got sideways and then he hit the brakes and tried to brake-check me … just finished him off. So, I can’t believe that happened. That stunk – the wreck part – but to tear up a truck after the race and totally take us out of the race and not to stick around after the race and walk off and not even want to say anything to me. I’m sure he’s tweeting something now about it. So, can’t even face me after. I’m pretty disappointed in the things that just went down. I used to look up to that guy but I guess he doesn’t understand the circumstances of what’s going on. I understand it’s tough racing down there in (turns) one and two at Martinsville. I know we wrecked, but to tear up a truck after the race and act like a punk on the track and on pit road and stop on pit road on my pit stall when my guys were coming out, that was pretty ridiculous. I’m not happy with him. And for him not to stick around, that’s pretty sad, too."
