14th Anniversary of Greg Moore’s Passing
During his brief career, Moore scored 5 wins, 4 pole positions and 17 podiums. Not only was he monumentally talented on track, but Moore combined that talent with a distinct blend of youth, charisma, and bravado. Because of this, Moore was one of the most beloved drivers of his era amongst competitors and fans.
Moore's legacy has been carried on by two of his best friends from that era Tony Kanaan and Dario Franchitti. Both have carved out their own chapters in the IndyCar record books as Indy 500 winners and series champions. Young Canadian star James Hinchcliffe, who wears red gloves in tribute to his childhood hero Moore, joined the rank of IndyCar winners this past season.
While today will no doubt be one in which we reflect sadly on a supreme talent taken from us far too soon. However, for those of us who had the pleasure of watching him race, we can also take a moment to cherish the memories of seeing the great Greg Moore at the front.
