IMS modifies seats

In response to declining attendance of IndyCar's #1 enemy, NASCAR, Indianapolis Motor Speedway has modified its grandstand availability for next year’s Brickyard 400, closing the entire North Visa, which is located between Turns 3 and 4.

Part of that grandstand, plus the G Stand, Northeast Vista Backstretch and part of the South Vista grandstands, had been closed since 2011.

Other grandstands have been restructured. The H, A and Southwest Vista grandstands are now part of a new Family Flex Ticket, which allows for general admission. Essentially, these are now first-come, first-served sections that allow ticket holders to move around the facility.

The Family Flex Ticket also allows children under 12 free admission with a paid adult (up to four children per flex ticket). Previously, young children were admitted free only with a paid general admission ticket. Indy Star

[Editor's Note: The speedway would sell just as many, if not more tickets, for a 400-mile season-ending IndyCar race under the lights on Labor Day weekend as they do for the Brickyard 400. So instead of handing a big check to support the organization that is trying to put IndyCar out of business, IndyCar can hand out purse checks to its IndyCar teams, who certainly could use another big payday. However, this makes too much sense so it won't happen. The Hulman George family prefers to line the pockets of NASCAR. Maybe they plan on selling out to them anyway. Maybe the deal has already been agreed to, and these charity checks are early payments to the future owners of IMS. Can there be any other explanation of such ludicrousy?]
