Daly Confirmed for Final Day of GP2 Testing in Abu Dhabi

He stayed around the Yas Marina circuit after the final GP3 races just in case. There were to be three days of GP2 testing and American Conor Daly was eager to take part. Day three of the official test will see Daly aboard the French No. 3 ART Grand Prix car as he takes part in the team's 2014 test program. "I am happy to assist ART with their GP2 test program. It's hard to stand around without access to a car but it was well worth staying at the circuit to take advantage of this opportunity," said Daly. "My biggest issue will be that my suit will be smelly from a GP3 weekend of racing but I don't think anyone will mind."

Daly is not new to GP2 as he tested during the off season in Barcelona, Spain for the German, Hilmer Motorsports team. He then raced in Malaysia for Hilmer scoring championship points for a seventh place finish. "Malaysia seems a long time ago," said Daly. "It was the most difficult race of my career but also the most satisfying. I look forward to carrying on where I left off. GP2 is a great series mainly because it's one of the doorsteps to Formula One."

There will be two sessions for GP2 on the final day in Abu Dhabi, a daylight morning session and a night session under the lights. "Night running under the lights in Abu Dhabi is just incredible," commented Daly. "Everything is so clear and the lights just give everything a different feel."

Daly raced for the French based ART Grand Prix team, which is regarded as one of Europe's best junior teams. Past drivers to have gone through ART include current Formula One drivers such as; Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel, Adrian Sutil, Jules Bianchi and Paul DiResta.
