Red Bull boss Christian Horner dismisses reports he will replace Bernie

Christian Horner has denied renewed rumors he is being lined up to replace F1’s under-pressure ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone.

The 83 year-old billionaire is fighting two court cases over the sale of Formula 1.

He was in the High Court on Wednesday, where German media company Constantin Medien argued Ecclestone was involved in deliberately undervaluing the sport when private equity fund CVC Capital Partners bought into the business in 2006.

Horner, mastermind of Red Bull’s four successive four championship triumphs with Sebastian Vettel, was speaking as the team celebrated their latest triumph with staff at the Milton Keynes factory.

He said: “Looking at the health Bernie is in, he is going to outlive all of us.

“I have no interest in the role he performs. My focus is in running a team.

“To replace Bernie would be impossible – certainly with one person so I am very happy with what I do here.

“I am focused and committed to this team."
