Plans for a new F1 track on the outskirts of Moscow "took a major step forward Tuesday with the announcement that prolific motorsport architect Hermann Tilke’s company had been tasked with designing the circuit," according to R-SPORT. Tilke has designed all of the last 10 circuits to debut on the F1 calendar "and has reshaped several more existing tracks."
His involvement "is widely seen as a step towards getting the sport's organizers to approve a new race." City planning official Vladimir Zhidkin said, "It is planned to open a race track that will be able to host competitions of the very highest level, right up to Formula One racing." R-SPORT
