Bryan Herta Autosport and Jeffrey Mark Motorsport announced today that Lloyd Read will join the Indy Lights team during the 2014 season.

At the age of six, Read moved to the California to pursue a career in racing. He spent two years in London, where he learned to drive a TAG kart. From 2010 to 2013, Read raced in both the Sports Car Club of America and Formula Car Challenge. He also participated in the Pro Mazda Championship in 2013 and impressed the BHA team when he tested the team's Lights car.

In addition to his racing career, Read earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Saint Mary's College of California. Now age 22, the Wales native spends his time karting, working out, surfing and snowboarding.

"I am unbelievably excited to be selected to drive for Bryan Herta Autosport in the 2014 Indy Lights season," said Read. "Bryan Herta, Steve Newey and Jeffrey Mark have given me the chance to drive for an Indianapolis 500 winning team in just my rookie season and I cannot express how grateful I am for this opportunity.

"Bryan knows how to win races and a championship in Indy Lights, so having him as a mentor is going to be exactly what every up-and-coming driver needs. Being able to sit in on IndyCar debriefs and observe the IndyCar program is going to expedite my learning process. It's a huge advantage that I know I have over the competition.

"I can't wait to give BHA the recognition they deserve in the Indy Lights series, which is to be at the top step of the podium."

Team owner Bryan Herta added, "We are very pleased to welcome Lloyd Read to the team. We have a strong focus this winter on strengthening our Indy Lights team, and Lloyd demonstrated to us when he tested our car that he is ready for this next step in his career. We look forward to getting to work in a couple weeks at the Chris Griffiths Memorial Test."

The 2014 Indy Lights season kicks off on Sunday, March 30, on the streets of St. Petersburg, FL. More information can be found at www.INDYCAR.com/RoadToIndy.
