Bourdais Joins Action Express Racing
Bourdais has an extensive history of success in a wide range of categories that stretches between continents. With four consecutive Champ Car titles, Formula 1 and Le Mans race experience, and a Daytona Prototype victory in the inaugural Brickyard Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Bourdais brings a depth of technical knowledge along with his natural speed.
“After securing a two year deal in IndyCar with KVSH as my main program, it was my ambition to compete in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship for the three long races that are Daytona, Sebring and Petit Le Mans," said Bourdais. “When the opportunity to race in Daytona Prototype with Chevrolet presented itself, thanks to Action Express, (team owner) Bob Johnson and his entire team, I immediately got pretty excited! They have a great group of guys, very fast cars, and a lot of experience in the series, so I am honored to join them and look forward to a great season."
Based in Denver, North Carolina, Action Express Racing won its very first race, the 2010 Rolex 24 At Daytona, and has developed into a championship-caliber team.
“We are very pleased to have Sebastien joining us for the endurance races next season," said Bob Johnson, Action Express Racing team owner. “We were competitive in the endurance events last year, but came up a little bit short in the championship. But ‘close’ isn’t good enough for this team, and we are determined to improve on what we did last season. Having Sébastien join us for the endurance races is only going to strengthen our efforts."
Action Express Racing was in action over the weekend at Sebring International Raceway for testing and Bourdais was able to contribute to the effort along with Barbosa and Fittipaldi. The team is also set to take part in a two-day test on Tuesday and Wednesday at Daytona International Speedway.
