Red Bull Junior Lynn joins Carlin for GP3
Red Bull Junior Lynn will follow in the footsteps of Antonio Felix da Costa who raced with Carlin in the GP3 Series and of course 2013 champion and Toro Rosso bound driver Daniil Kvyat.
20 year-old Lynn moves up to GP3 after two successful season in F3, with race wins in the British F3 Series in 2012 before finishing third in this year’s competitive FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Lynn claimed 14 podiums including three wins this season, in addition to taking second at the F3 Masters in Zandvoort. The highlight of the Brit’s season came in November however, when the MSA Team UK driver dominated the Macau Grand Prix, holding of Carlin’s da Costa to take an impressive victory around the Macau street circuit.
As one of just three Red Bull Junior drivers announced for 2014, Lynn follows in the footsteps of Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniil Kvyat who have all passed through Carlin during their time in the Red Bull Junior Team.
Speaking about his season ahead, Lynn said, “I am extremely proud to be joining the Red Bull Junior Team and to be also joining Carlin for the GP3 Series, it’s a big opportunity that I’m ready to make the most of. I have spent years going wheel to wheel with the Red Bull Carlin cars, so now it will be cool to be racing one myself."
Trevor Carlin added, “We have come close to working with Alex before and we have always admired the way he handles himself both on and off the track. We are very proud that the Red Bull Junior Team have entrusted us with Alex’s first season in the program and we are already laying preparations for a very strong push for the season ahead. Alex is a very quick driver with exactly the right attitude to be a challenger for the GP3 title from the very start."
