World’s largest HD screen now taking shape at Texas

Slowly but surely, “Big Hoss" is starting to rise at Texas Motor Speedway.

Above-ground work on the world’s largest high-definition video board began this week along the backstretch of the 1.5-mile oval outside Fort Worth, which hosts both NASCAR and the IndyCar Series.

Over the next three weeks, the construction team will be putting together the steel structure that will serve as both foundation and framework for the monster screen. Per TMS, the lower section of uprights should be moved into place by Jan. 21, with the upper section set to follow and be completed by Jan. 31.

Also underway at this time is the creation of Big Hoss’ electrical infrastructure. That, along with adding power to the base of the video board, is scheduled for completion within the next few weeks.

TMS is aiming for “Big Hoss" to be finished by March 1, with plenty of time to spare before its official unveiling during the track’s first NASCAR weekend of 2014 (April 3-6).
