Andretti Autosport to enter Global Rallycross with Volkswagen

Andretti Autosport's Michael Andretti confirmed at today's IndyCar lineup announcement that the team's interests will expand to include a Global Rallycross entry in 2014, representing Volkswagen.

"We are excited to confirm our intent to compete with Volkswagen in Global Rallycross events, and look forward to sharing more details at a later date," Andretti Autosport released in a statement. A more detailed unveiling, including the team's full 2014 lineup, will take place at the Chicago Auto Show on Feb. 6.

The Global Rallycross deal will add another facet to Andretti's increasingly diverse racing activities. In addition to its flagship IndyCar and Indy Lights operations, it also recently became the first U.S.-based team to sign up for the planned FIA Formula E championship. It will also continue to field entries in Pro Mazda.
