NASCAR reinstates Michael Waltrip Racing general manager Ty Norris

NASCAR announced on Thursday that it has reinstated Ty Norris, the general manager at Michael Waltrip Racing. Norris was suspended indefinitely after the finish-fixing scandal in the Sprint Cup race at Richmond on Sept. 7.

At Richmond, Clint Bowyer was deemed to have spun in the final laps of the race, and teammate Brian Vickers made a late unscheduled pit stop to help MWR teammate Martin Truex Jr. gain enough to earn a spot in NASCAR's Chase for the Championship playoffs.

According to NASCAR, Norris remains on indefinite NASCAR probation.

Michael Waltrip Racing was fined $300,000, while drivers Truex, Bowyer and Vickers were docked 50 points apiece on Sept. 9. Truex was also pulled from the Chase field after qualifying on points.
