2013 Auto GP runner-up Kimiya Sato lands GP2 seat

Kimiya Sato, the runner-up in the 2013 Auto GP championship, will be driving in the 2014 GP2 Series. The 24-year-old Japanese, born in Kobe, has been one of the frontrunners of the series last year, highlighting his control skills aboard a Zytek-powered 550-horsepower racecar. The experience made in the Coloni-promoted championship enabled him to a seamless transition to GP2, the supporting event for Formula 1 during the European weekend. And before joining the feeder series, Sato had lined-up for Sauber at Silverstone in the last round of rookie tests. Sato is following in the footsteps of other Auto GP greats including Romain Grosjean, currently the leading driver of Lotus Formula 1 Team and a former GP2 Champion, Kevin Ceccon and Adrian Quaife-Hobbs.
