Money greedy NASCAR continues to gouge race fans

Why does every sport insist on playing night games and charging more and more at the ticket office for the fan to see?

The latest is NASCAR, which has not only moved its final practice for Thursday’s Budweiser Duel qualifying races to a night session but also the Thursday races will be prime time. Why do they need to be at night?

For ratings. Has nothing to do with the racing or the drivers involved, who will now qualify at night but race during the day. How does that determine who will have the fastest cars?

It does not. It just means more TV ratings. Which is silly for the track because it will likely lead to empty seats. Night races in the middle of the week are not easy on fans. It is much easier to decide to just watch them on TV.

Oh yeah, in case the fans were on the fence: They also have raised the prices for the Duels.

Last season, it was around $45, this year the minimum is $60 for general admission.

I wonder why NASCAR is not as popular as it used to be. Because they continue to change things and raise prices to the point that the true fans are turned off.

Who can afford to go to qualifying races at $60 a ticket? I mean come on. Give the fans that enjoy the racing a break.

Daytona 500 tickets are already expensive. Now you have to spend much more to see them qualify.

And they also raised the price of Nationwide Series race tickets on Saturday. Where will it end?

Sadly, with less fans in the stands. Florida Today
