Kimi ‘wouldn’t say’ it was his fault
Putting in the laps at the Sakhir circuit on Saturday, the fourth and final day of the second pre-season outing, Raikkonen crashed heavily with just a few minutes remaining in the day.
The Finn lost control of his Ferrari F14T and crashed into the wall at Turn 4 causing heavy damage to the car.
"I was on a curb and got some fairly massive wheelspin," he explained to Autosport.
"I couldn't catch it anymore and unfortunately it went directly into the wall and damaged the car.
"Things happen so I wouldn't say it's my fault. We improved the settings a lot and it's not too bad, but there's a lot of torque in the car."
Raikkonen, who was third fastest for the day, a massive 3.435s down on Nico Rosberg's P1 time, played down the impact his crash had on Ferrari's program.
"We always want more laps, but today we didn't have any problems.
"Obviously I damaged the car with the crash and there were many red flags, but we did more or less what we wanted to. I don't think it's an issue.
"We could do long runs but the plan was to do something different. In the next test for sure we can do them."
