Andrew Craig ran IndyCar racing in its heyday when it was flush with sponsorship and big TV ratings. |
Former CART CEO Andrew Craig was named Wednesday as the North American representative of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The newly appointed position will see the British-born businessman work closely with the Circuit of The Americas, which plays host to the FIA WEC in September, while also looking for further opportunities in the U.S. and Canada to promote the globe-trotting championship.
Craig, who ran CART from 1994-2000, already serves on the board of the FIA Endurance Commission, while also acting as Vice Chairman of the FIA Touring Car Commission.
“His immediate responsibility is to help establish the 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas event in Texas and also to promote the WEC brand across North America, which is an extremely important territory for the ACO, the WEC and its partners," said FIA WEC boss Gerard Neveu.
“Andrew Craig has our complete confidence and we look forward to seeing the results from his endeavors in 2014.
