Miles and Verizon CEO to hold press-conference today
UPDATE Mark Miles and Dan Mead of Verizon are meeting with the media now. We'll have a full transcript of the press later. But here are a few highlights of the press conference.
- Mead believes Verizon is ideal for "complementing" through their technology.
- Says decision to join forces with IndyCar was made "independent" of rival Sprint's title sponsorship of NASCAR.
- Mead noted that IndyCar was a quality organization and that he and Miles did not exchange one phone call in the negotiating process. He also said that if any other corporate sponsors were looking for a platform to showcase their product, he would recommend IndyCar.
- They showed a Verizon IndyCar commercial which at first glance was very good. I imagine we will get a video of it at some point and display on AR1.
