Wayne Taylor Racing lands Konica Minolta sponsorship
The deal was announced at the Tequila Patron Sports Car Showcase at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. Team owner Wayne Taylor indicated the team’s primary focus is on the No. 10 car but did not shy away from the possibility of adding a second car in the future.
"After winning the Rolex Series championship last year, and with the merger of [that series] and the American Le Mans Series this year, we knew that we would need to elevate our game in a big way if we were to continue competing for championships in the new TUDOR [Championship]," said Taylor. “Having a business leader such as Konica Minolta come on board as the title sponsor of my organization just made sense."
In Saturday’s one-hour, 40-minute race, Taylor’s sons Ricky and Jordan will pilot the No. 10 in its first race with the Konica Minolta livery.
"It’s certainly not every race that we make an announcement like this and I think that should speak volumes about the significance of what we are here today to announce," said IMSA President and Chief Operating Officer Scott Atherton. “We have a lot of teams in our paddock who set a very high bar for their on-track performance, and we have other examples of teams that do an exceptional job on the business side of bringing active partnerships and true sponsor relationships into their environment. In Wayne Taylor Racing, you have that rare combination of both."
