Florida Lawmakers Have A Week To Decide On Daytona Funding

The Florida Legislature heads into the last week of its annual session, where it could determine whether Daytona Int'l Speedway's renovations "qualify for tax incentives." The "chance is still there" for the track to get $2M a year in sales tax revenue, with a proposal before the state Senate "on its special-order calendar for a vote" tomorrow. Meanwhile, Palm Beach County's John Prince Park is "back in the running as a possible spring training site after a game of behind-the-scenes political hardball among elected leaders." State lawmakers this week could "make it easier for the county to get more tax dollars for the construction" of a ballpark.
