Sunday’s Canadian F1 Grand Prix Attracts More Than 4 Million Viewers On RTL
German free-to-air TV channel RTL "recorded top ratings for its broadcast of the Canadian F1 Grand Prix on Sunday evening," according to Sidney Schering of QUOTENMETER. An average of 4.39 million viewers tuned in starting at 8pm. The number translated into a market share of 17.9%. In the target demographic 14-49, the first victory of Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo attracted 1.38 million viewers and had a 16.6% market share.
Following the conclusion of the race, RTL recorded 3.76 million viewers, including 1.11 million in the target demographic, for its race recap and analysis starting at 9:45pm. The market shares were 15.1% and 12.2%, respectively.
Right after the race highlights, RTL aired a documentary about former F1 champion Michael Schumacher, who has been in a coma since his skiing accident on Dec. 29.
