Kimball to sport new livery this weekend in Houston
The #83 Chevrolet will sport a new look in the next four races in support of Novo Nordisk's Levemir FlexTouch – a recently launched insulin delivery device. |
Beginning with this weekend’s races in Houston and continuing with Verizon IndyCar Series events in Pocono, Iowa and Toronto, Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing driver Charlie Kimball will sport a new green livery on the No. 83 car. The new color scheme for the No. 83 Levemir® FlexTouch® Chevrolet is in support of Novo Nordisk’s Levemir® FlexTouch® – a pre-filled insulin delivery device that just launched here in the U.S. Kimball, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2007, uses FlexTouch® for his daily insulin delivery of Levemir® along with his NovoLog® FlexPen®.
Novo Nordisk, the world’s leading diabetes care company, has been the primary sponsor of Charlie Kimball and the No. 83 car since Kimball made his IndyCar debut in 2011.
Kimball has finished higher than his starting position in all but one of the six street or road courses of the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season. Kimball had a strong showing at the Chevy Indy Dual in Detroit starting in the 20th position on both days and finishing ninth and third respectively at the doubleheader. At the Grand Prix of Indianapolis, he moved from his starting position of 23rd all the way to fifth and at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama he advanced from his starting position of 17th to a top-10 finish of 10th. Kimball started the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in the 19th position and finished in 17th and the only street or road course race where he did not finish higher than his starting position was at the season opener in St. Petersburg, where he started and finished in the 20th position.
Kimball, On The Grand Prix of Houston: "After a couple of weekends away from the race track, I can't wait to get to Houston for the Verizon IndyCar Series double-header. It will be a tough one with the late June heat for drivers and crews alike, but the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing team will be mentally and physically prepared. We had two successful days testing in Sebring last week so we were able to try a few things to simulate the street course. I'm also excited to debut the new colors of the No. 83 Levemir® FlexTouch® Chevrolet–it looks great and I know it will be fast. It will be all about being smart and consistent this weekend once we hit the track."
