Special traffic patterns will be in effect Sunday for IndyCar race at Pocono

State police will put special traffic patterns into effect to help motorists attending the Pocono IndyCar 500 race on July 6 at Pocono Raceway.
On Sunday, prior to the race, Route 115 will be one way in the southbound direction between Interstate 80 and the raceway, with two lanes open. That pattern is expected to last from 8 a.m. until all traffic has entered the track grounds.
Following the race, Route 115 will be one way in the northbound direction between I-80 and the raceway, with two lanes open. That pattern will begin with 25 laps left in the race and end when the raceway parking lots are cleared.
Stoney Hollow Road will be a no-parking, tow away zone between Long Pond Road and the I-80 overpass. The area will be posted, and any vehicle in violation will be removed at the owner's expense.
Following the race, the I-80 eastbound off-ramp at Exit 284 (Blakeslee) will be closed to traffic.
State police remind motorists that the Fourth of July weekend will bring large numbers of holiday travelers in addition to race fans in the Poconos.
Motorists should expect higher traffic volume and possible delays not only on Route 115 and I-80, but also on routes 209, 940 and 903. Those who normally use Route 115 to travel through the area should consider using I-80, Route 33, Route 209 and the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike as alternate routes.
