Afternoon Notes From Iowa Speedway (Update 1)

UPDATE

It looks like we'll see racing tonight at Iowa Speedway after all.

For a day of no racing, it’s been quite a busy one at Iowa Speedway. I spent some time roaming the paddock earlier, and will have a news and notes probably tomorrow.

For now, it looks as though the rain may hold off after all. The staff at the AR1 Central Iowa Weather Bureau say there is rain to the north and south of Newton. However, Newton itself should be spared.

We expect the green flag in about 45 minutes.

Brian C. could go for a champagne bath today at a very hot Iowa Speedway.

I arrived at Iowa Speedway about a half hour ago. My first reaction after getting out of the car was: WOW IT'S HOT!!!! Really hot, really humid, really hazy!

Luckily, I am currently in the nice air conditioned media center here at Iowa Speedway. The Verizon IndyCar Series teams are currently in the garage area preparing for tonight's race.

Speaking of tonight's race, the green flag has been bumped up a half hour to 7:30 p.m. Central Time.

Now, will there be a race? Yes, the big talk right now here is the weather.

We reported earlier that the weather forecast for this evening was not particularly good, as we expected rain to begin early this afternoon. Well, it has not begun to rain and our latest check of the weather shows there will likely be no rain until at least 4:45 p.m. here in Newton. Having been in Iowa the last few days I've learned the weather forecast here tends to consistently be something of a fluid situation, so stay tuned. However, the forecast is better now than a few hours ago.
