In NASCAR, cheaters prosper

This AutoWeek article talks about a topic AR1.com has harped on for ages about NASCAR – you can cheat to win and NASCAR will never take your win away. The problem is simple, once the trophy has been given and the fans go home knowing who they think the race winner is, NASCAR is not going to take it away. They will slap your wrist with a fine, but you'll always be the race winner in the record books.

With all other sports, all penalties are levied during the event while the fans are watching. Never after the event. And that is the dilemma with auto racing.

The solution is simple. If you cheat to win the entire team is suspended for 5 races. Guess what, they will never cheat again. Mark C.
