Morning update from Toronto – Saturday
Hawk sponsorship means new livery this weekend for Juan Montoya |
It is a bit overcast today in Toronto, and beginning at 1:00 PM there is a 30% chance of showers, increasing to 40% at 3:00 PM race time for the first leg of the Honda GP of Toronto doubleheader. It should be dry for qualifying at 10:00 AM this morning. It is currently a very cool and comfortable 64 degrees F with low humidity so times should be fast for qualifying.

Showers are forecast for tomorrow at race time as well, so things can get interesting if the track gets wet. Many of the turns have concrete patches and as Tagliani alluded to yesterday, the concrete has very little traction.
"There's a ton of concrete," Tagliani said. "And when you hit those patches you slide. Going from asphalt to concrete to asphalt, you notice the difference. At the beginning of the weekend to the end, as more and more rubber is laid down, the track changes completely."
And of course if we get rain, wet rubber on concrete is even worse.
But drivers love the challenge of Toronto. "Toronto is a really fun track," said Mike Conway. "It's tight and twisty and very bumpy, but has got some high speed corners and a lot of changes with the concrete patches. You can never really get a perfect car here."
And those are the kind of race tracks that tend to gives us the most exciting races. Stay tuned to AR1.com for further updates throughout the day. Mark C. reporting from Exhibition Place in Toronto.
