Watkins Glen Prez calls IndyCar business model ‘insane’

In this Star Gazette article, Watkins Glen President Michael Printup notes that he hasn't had conversations about an IndyCar race in quite a while. He also notes that any such possibility is very remote, as the series business model is insane.

Until INDYCAR takes an equity stake in race facilities a la the France Family with ISC/NASCAR, their options for race venues will be limited, particularly with such little television revenue to kick back to tracks. And when you further handcuff yourself by ending your season in August, when not starting earlier than March, it becomes clear why venue options are very limited for IndyCar.
