Two Red Flags Interrupt IMSA Morning Warm-up

Three cars have repairs coming before today’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America, including the GT Daytona-polesitting TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage.

The second red flag of the 20-minute warm-up session came after contact between Sylvain Tremblay in the No. 70 SpeedSource Mazda SKYACTIV-D prototype and James Davison in the No. 007 Aston Martin at the Kink. The accident ended the session early.

Tremblay went to the inside and the cars made contact; Tremblay spun across the road to the inside and then came back across to the outside retaining wall. Both cars suffered heavy damage; Davison and Tremblay were both reported out of their cars.

Meanwhile earlier in the session, Gustavo Yacaman lost control of his No. 42 OAK Racing Morgan Nissan exiting Turn 7, as he ran wide on corner exit and spun across the road to cause the first red. He contacted the wall with the car’s left front and left rear quarter panels. He too got out of his car.

Prior to these accidents, 50 cars were expected to start today’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race. sportscar365.com
