Tony Stewart to miss Sprint Cup race at Michigan
Tony Stewart, who is dealing with the fatal accident that claimed the life of 20-year-old sprint-car driver Kevin Ward Jr. last week, will miss his second consecutive Sprint Cup race, skipping Sunday's event at Michigan International Speedway.
Stewart, who sat out last week's race at Watkins Glen the day after the accident, will be replaced by veteran driver Jeff Burton at Michigan.
Stewart's decision pertains only to the Sprint Cup race at Michigan, Stewart-Haas Racing said in a statement released Thursday.
"Stewart's plans for upcoming Sprint Cup races have yet to be determined," SHR said in the statement.
