NASCAR Michigan TV rating (Update)

UPDATE ESPN's live telecast of the Pure Michigan 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 17, earned a 3.2 U.S. 'final' household rating, averaging 5,150,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media.

The rating and viewership were up from last year’s race, which earned a 3.0 rating and averaged 4,585,000 viewers.

The nation's highest-rated metered market was Greenville, S.C., with a 10.4 rating, followed by Indianapolis at 8.7 and Greensboro, N.C., at 8.6. Charlotte, N.C., was fourth at 7.2 with Birmingham, Ala., and Richmond, Va., tied for fifth at 6.9.

Rounding out the top 10 metered markets were Nashville, Tenn., 6.7, Knoxville, Tenn., 6.4, Norfolk, Va., 6.0 and Louisville, Ky., 5.7.

ESPN's live telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Saturday, Aug. 16, earned a 0.9 U.S. household rating, averaging 1,473,000 viewers. The rating was the same as last year’s race while viewership rose from last year’s 1,287,000.

08/18/14 ESPN's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pure Michigan 400 drew a 4.0 overnight TV rating yesterday afternoon. The audience for the race from Michigan Int’l Speedway was flat compared to last year.
