NASCAR Atlanta TV Rating (Update)

UPDATE ESPN's live telecast of the Oral-B USA 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday night, Aug. 31, earned a final 3.2 U.S. rating, averaging 5,210,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media.

The rating was the same for last year's race while the viewership average of 5,323,000 in 2013 was slightly higher (compare that to the 200,000 that tuned in for IndyCar's grand finale).

Greenville, S.C., led the nation’s metered markets with a 9.6 rating for the telecast, with Greensboro, N.C., second at 9.0 and Indianapolis third at 8.9. Birmingham Ala., was fourth at 8.3 with Charlotte, N.C., fifth at 7.4.

Rounding out the top 10 metered markets were Richmond, Va., 6.8; Raleigh-Durham, N.C., 6.4; Orlando, Fla., 6.3; Tampa-St. Petersburg, 5.7; and Norfolk, Va., 5.5.

ESPN2's live telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Atlanta on Saturday night, Aug. 30, earned a 1.0 U.S. rating, averaging 1,541,000 viewers. The rating again matched the 2013 race telecast rating and viewership was again slightly down from a 2013 average of 1,611,000.

09/02/14 The NASCAR Sprint Cup race Sunday from Atlanta GA received an overnight TV rating of 3.0 on ESPN 7, the same as the 3.0 last year.
