NASCAR Richmond TV rating

ABC's live telecast of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday night, Sept. 6, earned a 3.0 U.S. household rating, averaging 4,920,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media.

The rating and viewership were down from last year's race, which earned a 3.3 rating and averaged 5,153,000 viewers.

Greenville, S.C., led the nation's metered markets with a 7.6 rating, while Indianapolis was second at 7.4. Richmond (6.9), Greensboro, N.C., (6.6) and Nashville, Tenn., (6.2) completed the top five.

The rest of the top 10 metered markets were Charlotte, N.C., 6.1; Orlando, Fla., 5.9; Norfolk, Va., 5.7; Knoxville, Tenn., 5.5; and Tulsa, Okla., 5.0.

ESPN2's live telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Richmond on Friday night, Sept. 5, earned a 0.8 U.S. rating, averaging 1,305,000 viewers. Last year's race telecast earned a 1.1 rating with 1,834,000 viewers.
