IMSA Secures TV Deal for Porsche GT3 Cup

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The International Motor Sports Ass'n (IMSA) and Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. have formed a partnership that will offer syndicated network television coverage for IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama events in 2014 and 2015, with potential carriage in 2016.

Sinclair's coverage – offered through its American Sports Network (ASN) – begins this Saturday, Sept. 13 with the 2014 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama season opener from Sebring. The telecasts will run for seven consecutive weeks, culminating with the season finale at Road Atlanta on Saturday, Oct. 25. Initial clearance will include 36 Sinclair markets.

"Our association with IMSA and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge is a great compliment to ASN’s existing lineup of sports content," said Doron Gorshein, chief operating officer of Sinclair Networks Group. "Our entry into the auto racing space allows us to enhance our value within our largest advertising category of automotive, diversify our sports offerings and expand our audience."

Each Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama telecast will be one hour in length and will air weekends in each local market. Each telecast also will be available for streaming via IMSA.com within 24 to 48 hours following the initial Sinclair/ASN telecast.

The coverage, hosted by veteran IMSA announcer Greg Creamer with analysis from racer Randy Pobst, will feature highlights from the first race of each event doubleheader, followed by a telecast of the second race of each weekend.

"This unique approach to Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama television coverage has outstanding potential," said IMSA Vice President, Marketing David Pettit. "Sinclair has tremendous reach through its owned and operated television stations. Offering these telecasts on many of those stations in consistent time slots on consecutive weekends will expose our sport to new audiences."
