NASCAR Chicagoland TV Ratings

ESPN's live telecast of the opening race of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 14, earned a 2.3 U.S. household rating, averaging 3,711,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media.

Last year's race was rain-delayed and earned a 1.7 rating, averaging 2,689,000 viewers.

Greensboro, N.C., led the nation’s metered markets with a 7.9 rating, with Greenville, S.C., second at 7.2 and Birmingham, Ala., third at 6.2. Indianapolis was fourth at 6.0 and Norfolk, Va., fifth at 5.1.

Rounding out the top 10 markets were Raleigh-Durham, N.C., 4.9; Charlotte, N.C., 4.7; Knoxville, Tenn., 4.5; Nashville, Tenn., 4.4; and tied for 10th were Tampa-St. Petersburg and Orlando, Fla., 4.3.

ESPN2's live telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 13, earned a 0.8 U.S. household rating, averaging 1,241,000 viewers. The rating and viewership were down from last year’s race, which earned a 0.9 rating and averaged 1,289,185 viewers.
