Scott Speed captured his third Red Bull Global Rallycross victory of 2014 this past weekend in Los Angeles. |
After a weekend of highs and lows in Los Angeles, the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team heads to DirtFish Rally School in Snoqualmie, WA for Red Bull Global Rallycross Seattle, the ninth round of the 2014 season. Scott Speed sits 24 behind the leader in the drivers' championship standings and Tanner Foust is currently in the eighth position. Red Bull Global Rallycross Seattle takes place September 27, 2014. NBC will air the ninth round on September 28 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Scott Speed, No. 77 7UP Volkswagen Polo
- Speed scored the record-tying fifth win of his Red Bull Global Rallycross career during Round 7 in Los Angeles
- The 31-year-old is one of two drivers to have won multiple events during the 2014 Red Bull GRC series season
"Los Angeles was a good weekend for us in terms of points and strategy. We were able to get the No. 77 7UP Volkswagen to the front of the line in race one, but unfortunately we suffered some mechanical issues in race two which ended up setting us back. Heading into Seattle we just need to keep our mistakes to a minimum and keep a handle on the things we can control. I've never been to DirtFish Rally School before, so I'm looking forward to racing in a different atmosphere and putting on a good show for the fans."
Tanner Foust debuted the VW Beetle last weekend in L.A. Foust will be behind the wheel of the Beetle once again this weekend in Seattle. |
Tanner Foust, No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Beetle
- Foust earned a heat victory in the first on-track session for the Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Beetle
- The three-time U.S. rallycross champion will continue to compete in the Volkswagen Beetle during this weekend's round at DirtFish Rally School
"We came into Los Angeles as a team to learn about the Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Beetle by putting it out on the track under racing conditions. The results are very encouraging. The Beetle is fast off the launch and very efficient in the corners, and the steering is so quick and direct that it's very easy to drive. In most motorsports you wouldn't think to do development under the lights of competition. The Global Rallycross Series is unique and there are some lessons that can only be learned by pushing door-to-door and running the jumps and dirt that are specific to the series. The work we are putting into the Beetle is going to make it very competitive in 2015. I'm excited to get back to DirtFish (Rally School), I was able to win when we raced there in 2011, so it will be great to bring the Beetle there and give the fans a good show."
