NASCAR Dover TV Ratings

ESPN's live telecast of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 28, earned a 2.3 U.S. household rating, averaging 3,786,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media.

The rating and viewership were down from last year's race, which earned a 2.4 rating and averaged 3,969,000 viewers.

Greenville, S.C., was the highest-rated of the nation's 56 metered markets with a 7.1 rating for the race telecast, followed by Greensboro, N.C., at 7.0 and Birmingham, Ala., at 6.1. Indianapolis was fourth at 5.4 with Knoxville, Tenn., fifth at 5.2.

Rounding out the top 10 were Nashville, Tenn., 5.0; Richmond, Va., Charlotte, N.C., and Orlando, Fla., tied at 4.9; and Jacksonville, Fla., and Louisville, Ky., tied at 4.6.

ESPN's telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Dover on Saturday, Sept. 27, had a rise in its rating and viewership over the 2013 race. The telecast earned a 1.2 U.S. rating, up from a 1.1 last year, and averaged 1,859,000 viewers, up from 1,641,000 last year.
