Nationwide Charlotte: Toyota Quote board

Kyle Busch

KYLE BUSCH, No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 2nd

Was the difference the time it took you to get to the front?

"No. They were faster than us tonight. Just knew that with about 60 (laps) to go that we had a tire advantage over them and that was going to be the way for us to win the race. But, bizarre debris cautions always ruin those things for you. It's a shame. I don't feel bad for us and the team. I feel bad for the Breast Cancer Champions that were here with us tonight. Just to give them a little more something to celebrate in their life. And weren't able to do it."

Do you expect tires to be an issue in tomorrow night's race?

"I don't know — I think it can be just as much of an issue tomorrow. I think Cup cars tend to be harder on tires than Nationwide cars do because they're faster down the straightaway, they land harder in the corners and what not. We had issues tonight, we had some unraveling problems. There towards the end of one of the runs I felt like the right-front was really starting to give up again and start sliding across the race track there so I had to move to the top. It lends itself to a little bit of good racing. If you do abuse them too much then you're going to go backwards. I feel like that can be what happens tomorrow as well too. We saw a little bit of that in some final practice stuff where guys that ran real hard early, they seem to fall off a lot more than guys that couldn't post a fast time, but could keep their cars going more consistent."

Matt Kenseth

MATT KENSETH, No. 20 GameStop Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 3rd

How was the car in the race?

"Our GameStop Toyota was really pretty good all night. We just had one restart where we were on kind of used tires and I just couldn't hold my track position very good and got behind. Just hard to get runs — you don't have a lot of power, it's hard to get runs and be able to pass there. That was probably the best car I've had all year. It was fun to be competitive. I wish we could have got the win here, but it was a fun race."

Do you expect tires to be a concern tomorrow night?

"Not that I know of — I thought tonight it was fun to be able to have four tires and be able to pass the guys with two tires. I think that always makes better racing. I just thought tonight tires were at a premium much more than they've been here in a long time so I hope it's like that tomorrow night."

How was the race overall?

"It was a good night for us — I was a little quicker than Kyle (Busch) and maybe the 22 (Brad Keselowski) there at the end. I just wasn't in front and there towards the end there we just got behind a little bit and it was hard to come back from that. Overall, it was a good night and it was the best car I've had this year. It was a fun night."
