Project Brabham passes major crowd funding milestone

David Brabham’s crowd-funding efforts to place Project Brabham on the World Endurance Championship grid reached a major milestone this week by passing the 75 percent mark in its quest to raise $402,000. The current tally sits at $316,000, or 79 percent, and will remain open for investors at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/project-brabham until Nov. 1.

Launched on September 24, the global response to Project Brabham has been impressive, and once the initial funding target is reached, Brabham says a new round of crowd funding will take place.

"With 16 days left of the Project Brabham crowd funding campaign it is great to see we are nearly 80 percent of the way to our initial target of £250,000," the three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner told RACER.

"When we hit that, we can deliver the front-end of the new Brabham-Digital portal so fans can watch and contribute to team's development, and a comprehensive prospectus that will allow us to go after the big investment required for a three-year program in the WEC There has been a tremendous response so far and we are not far from going over that first goal and heading towards our next target of £500,000 which, once reached, will allow the extensive building and development of the three, highly complex cloud-based experiences to begin."

Brabham started the initiative with plenty of hope and no guarantees is would take off, and says he's continually encouraged by the reception Project Brabham has received.

"It has been great to read so many positive comments about Project Brabham from the fans and the media, it gives us a lot of confidence that people really do want greater access to motorsport and to be involved," he added. "We are not there yet, so the more support we get the quicker this becomes a reality. Then we can bring this iconic name back to racing with Brabham-Digital at its core, to give fans a truly immersive experience as well as creating a learning environment for drivers and engineers from around the world." racer.com
