Turner Confirms Two-Car Pirelli WC Program for 2015
Team owner Will Turner confirmed to Sportscar365 Monday plans to return to the sprint-race championship. He said its two season-long drivers have already been decided on, but are awaiting final contracts.
It will mark the team's full-season return to World Challenge, having campaigned its iconic blue and yellow BMWs in the sprint racing series from 1998-2004, which included two championships, ten victories, 40 top-five finishes and seven pole positions.
"I am really looking forward to getting back into Pirelli World Challenge for 2015," Turner said."For me, it's where it all started. In 1998 I competed in my first professional race and in 2003 we won our first championship in World Challenge.
"This does not mean it's the only racing we will do in 2015 but I am happy that we can confirm this program so early… I expect to announce the drivers in a few weeks with the cars shipping from Germany any day now."
The team made a one-off appearance with its Z4 GT3 in this year's World Challenge round at St. Petersburg with Dane Cameron at the wheel.
Cameron went on to win the GTD championship, scoring four class wins with Markus Palttala.
Turner said they don't have any current plans to return to the TUDOR Championship GTD class next year, although it's understood the team is finalizing a program for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. Sportscar365
