Rosberg clinches inaugural FIA pole position trophy

Nico Rosberg has scored an impressive 10 pole positions in 2014

With his pole position for tomorrow's Brazilian Grand Prix, Mercedes AMG Petronas driver Nico Rosberg clinched the first annual FIA pole position trophy. The pole was Rosberg's tenth of the season, and with one round remaining Lewis Hamilton, who has earned 7 poles cannot catch Rosberg.

The only other driver to earn a pole position during the season was Williams' Felipe Massa, who won pole for the Austrian Grand Prix.

The record for most poles in a season belongs to Sebastian Vettel, who won pole for 15 of 19 races in 2011.
