Hamilton: spin cost me win

The championship battle between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton remains tight headed into the season-finale at Abu Dhabi

Mercedes AMG Petronas driver Lewis Hamilton says that a spin just before his second pit stop cost him the win in today's Brazilian Grand Prix. Hamilton's teammate Nico Rosberg was able to capitalize on the Brit's miscue and score his fifth victory of 2014 but first since the German Grand Prix in July.

"I think ultimately it cost the win," said Hamilton. "I was much quicker up until that point and on that lap, I had gone one second quicker as Nico pitted.

"I thought I was going to pit at the end of that lap and on next lap I had nothing [left on the tires].

"At the end of the day I locked the rears into Turn 4 and under rotation that spun me around, the second time it happened this weekend – no one's fault but mine."

Hamilton carries a seventeen point lead over Rosberg into the double-points series finale at Abu Dhabi in two weeks time.
