Bottas tops first day of Abu Dhabi testing
Bottas |
Williams driver Valtteri Bottas was fastest on the first day of Formula 1's post-season Abu Dhabi test, ahead of Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.
Meanwhile McLaren-Honda's development car suffered many problems and never set a lap time. Reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne coasted to a halt at his pit following an installation lap and then caused a red flag when the car broke down on-track with around two hours of the test remaining.
Bottas’ fastest lap of 1m43.396s was unbeaten by Raikkonen and Rosberg (3rd) as Sebastian Vettel watched from the Scuderia's garage while Kimi Raikkonen did the lapping.
